Dr. Kim I. de la Cruz is an Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Aortic Disease Program at Univeristy of Virginia Health. Before joining the UVA, Dr. de la Cruz was the inaugural Section Chief of Aortic Surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He also held the Director of Aortic Surgery at Methodist Healthcare System/HCA San Antonio Division. He previously served as assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. de la Cruz graduated from the University of the Philippines where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Medicine degrees. He completed his general surgery residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center and went on to the Texas Heart Institute/Baylor College of Medicine to complete a thoracic surgery residency and an aortic surgery fellowship.
